After eight years of impactful reporting at WRBL News 3, Senior Reporter Chuck Williams has announced his departure from the station. Williams will leave his position in late October 2026 to begin a new chapter as Editor and Publisher of the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer starting in early November.

A Return to Journalistic Roots

Williams describes his move as a homecoming to his journalistic roots. Reflecting on his career, Williams stated, “This is not about leaving WRBL; this is about going home to my journalistic roots.” He previously spent over 30 years with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, serving in roles that included reporter, sports editor, metro editor, and business editor. Williams noted, “Everyone knows I’m a newspaper guy.”

Legacy at WRBL News 3

Chuck Williams joined WRBL News 3 in November 2018 after his decades-long tenure at the legacy newspaper. During his time at WRBL, Williams became known for covering a wide spectrum of stories, from politics and education to sports and local events. He played a prominent role in leading the station’s political coverage, earning recognition both within the newsroom and in the wider community.

Colleagues Reflect on Williams’s Impact

Regional General Manager Tracey Rogers praised Williams for his contributions, saying, “Chuck Williams is a journalist first and foremost and a leader in our community. Chuck has led WRBL News 3’s political coverage for almost the last decade and we have been fortunate to benefit from his exemplary reporting career. We are thankful that included his time with WRBL News 3. We look forward to supporting Chuck in his new role with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. We wish Chuck nothing but the best, and he will always be a member of the WRBL News 3 family.”

Media Career and Education

Williams’s media career has spanned newspapers, radio, online journalism, podcasts, long-form interviews, and social media. He graduated from Columbus State University in 2026 with a master’s degree in Strategic Communication and holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Troy State University.

Looking Ahead: Editor and Publisher of Columbus Ledger-Enquirer

In his new capacity, Williams will take on the dual responsibilities of Editor and Publisher at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, a newly created role. Williams said he is “incredibly grateful to WRBL for the opportunity to work for such a good organization,” and he looks forward to reconnecting with his roots in local journalism as he returns to the publication where his career began.
